Outpatient presentation
Registration:
Between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. you can make appointments for an outpatient consultation by calling 06421/58-66603. On the day of the outpatient presentation, registration for the examination takes place via the central patient registration in the foyer of the new building. Please remember to take the referral form from your family doctor or ENT doctor with you.
Polyclinic control center:
The consultation assistants coordinate the examinations necessary for your outpatient presentation: If you require a day clinic or inpatient treatment appointment after the outpatient examination and discussion of the findings, this appointment will also be arranged with you here. Hearing and dizziness examinations are carried out in audiology. The otoneurological examinations are carried out in special, sound-insulated listening cabins with the support of the latest computer-controlled audiometers. The hearing and vertigo examinations are carried out by specially trained medical-technical assistants. The hearing examination of children is made easier in a playful context.

Therapy procedures
All modern therapeutic procedures are available for treatment either in-house or in-house. The current treatment concepts for head and neck tumors consist of surgical or radiation oncological treatment alone for localized tumors. For advanced stages of the disease, an interdisciplinary, combined therapeutic approach is usually necessary. This usually includes a combination of surgery, radio(chemo)therapy or radioimmunotherapy. Surgical treatment therefore represents an essential element in the interdisciplinary treatment of patients with malignant head and neck tumors. This surgical therapy includes organ-preserving, minimally invasive (“keyhole”) surgery, as well as open tumor surgery including the necessary interventions for functional rehabilitation with particular attention to the reconstruction of form and aesthetics. In addition to maintaining oncological safety, this ensures the highest level of quality of life.

Tumor conferences
The care of patients with malignant diseases in the head and neck area at the UKGM Marburg takes place on an interdisciplinary basis in a head and neck tumor center certified by the German Cancer Society (DKG), which is part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Marburg. The Marburg ENT Clinic is the main cooperation partner in this center.
Every patient with a malignant tumor in the head and neck area is presented to an interdisciplinary head and neck tumor conference after histological confirmation and the extent has been determined before definitive treatment or during the course of therapy in order to ensure an optimal, tailored to the stage of the disease. to be able to define an individualized therapy concept and make recommendations. In addition to the attending head and neck surgeons from the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the members of this tumor conference are representatives from the Departments of Hemato-oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology and Pathology as well as representatives of the Department of Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology. The expertise of the individual disciplines and the close collaboration enable optimal tumor therapy based on current clinical and scientific standards.

Support offers
Our center also has specifically trained oncological nurses and psychologists who specialize in the care of cancer patients (psycho-oncologists) available to care for patients suffering from cancer. The team also supports patients in establishing contact with self-help groups (Larynx-operated e.V., Facially injured e.V.) and takes care of any home care or support that may be necessary (social service). It is important to us that the patient and his or her wishes and ideas are intensively involved in the process and that, in addition to timely, effective but also as gentle treatment as possible in times of “high-performance medicine”, the patient and all of his concerns are supported individually .
